Assigned with folding metal sheet as the material and manufacturing requirement, the design explore ways to manipulate flat sheet into three dimensional form The final chopstick rest design visualizes form through the shadows created by the metal folds.
Inspired by the simplicity and continuous stroke of Chinese characters; the design consist of nine chopstick rests representing number 1-9. The strokes in each character were translated into lasercut pattern, then folded, and plated into its final form.
