WINŌ

An homage to the elegant form and compound curve of the winnowing basket, the Winō herb stripper reintroduces the distance agricultural gesture into the contemporary kitchen.

The design follows the shape of the palm to naturally catch and funnel the ingredients into any container. The unglazed underside of the piece serves as a non-slip texture and adds a natural element to the design.

Contour Tray

Contour Tray introduces a functional surface onto soft seating furniture with its shape-conforming structure. The layering of dowels and felt allows flexibility for the tray to outline any surface it rests on. Serving as a coaster and catch-all, the tray complements existing furniture while enhancing the space with its simplistic sculptural form.

Glass Onions

Set of 4 hand-blown glass jars. Visible through interaction, the gradient finish delivers a shifting play between transparency and translucency. Using the same form as a canvas, the positioning of the frosted gradient on each jar delivers a distinct viewing experience. A seemingly physical yet surreal set of objects.

The Disposable

“The Disposable” is a material play on throwaway culture and convenience-based consumption. The handmade slip-cast ceramics are replicas of well-known mass-produced plastic packaging, including Solo Cups, Nongshim instant noodles, and Nishiki microwavable rice.

Quotidian Encounters

We look. We listen. We smell. We touch. We taste. We navigate the world with our senses. Material qualities of manufactured goods have immanent and often overlooked potential to facilitate positive emotional experiences. By associating the experience of food preparation and consumption with positive emotions and memories, lasting emotional engagement can be achieved and meaningfully transcend the commercial aims of the food product.

Leveraging gestures derived from culinary techniques and traditional food practice, Quotidian Encounters elevates otherwise banal food experiences into gastronomic events.
